Nebraska Music Hall of Fame is organized as a Nebraska Non-Profit Corporation, aimed to preserve Nebraska's rich musical history.
The Chancellors were formed as a small combo in David City, Nebraska in 1962.  By 1967 the group had expanded to an 8-piece show band with members from the Columbus and Schuyler, Ne. areas.  Many of the members then attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and relocated to Lincoln around that time.  By attracting musicians from other local and regional bands, the Chancellors became one of the most successful and popular show-bands in the Midwest.  They won both the KOIL Teen Fair Boss Band Battle in Omaha over 50 other bands and the Omaha Midwest Battle of the Bands over 87 other bands which garnered them a contract with Liberty Records, in 1967.

The Chancellors opened up for such notables as The Who, Herman’s Hermits, The Beach Boys, The Blues MaGoos, The Detroit Wheels, The McCoys and The  Grassroots. The Who, Herman’s Hermits, The Beach Boys, The Blues MaGoos, The Detroit Wheels, The McCoys and The  Grassroots.
